Temperature measurement is rarely the hard part; keeping the signal clean from the probe to the control room is. A PT100 element that reads perfectly in a calibration bath can show a two-degree error on a machine once the cable runs next to a drive and the transmitter sits in a warm cabinet. DuoMy ships probe and transmitter as a matched pair, with the cold junction and lead resistance handled at the factory.

The range covers platinum RTDs for accuracy, thermocouples for speed and high temperature, and infrared pyrometers for moving targets, rollers and molten material. Outputs include 4-20 mA, HART, Modbus RTU and IO-Link, and all stainless housings are available in IP67 or IP68 with M12 or fixed cable connections.

For food, pharmaceutical and semiconductor customers we supply sanitary probes with 3-A compliant finishes, and for cleanroom and chamber work we supply thin-film elements with fast response times and low mass, so the sensor follows the process instead of averaging it.

Range Overview

Temperature Sensors variants

Each variant exists because a different application needs it. The distinction is usually mechanical or environmental rather than a better accuracy figure.

PT100 / PT1000 RTD Probes

±0.15 °C

Platinum resistance probes in 2-, 3- and 4-wire configurations. Class A and 1/3 DIN tolerance, stainless or Inconel sheath.

Thermocouples

+1,200 °C

Type K, J, T, E and N assemblies for high temperature and fast response, with standard or miniature connectors.

Head-Mount Transmitters

HART 7

4-20 mA / HART transmitters that mount inside a connection head and convert the probe signal at the point of measurement.

Infrared Pyrometers

8-14 µm

Non-contact measurement of moving webs, rollers, molten metal and plastics from 0 to 1,600 °C with adjustable emissivity.

Sanitary Temperature Sensors

CIP / SIP

Clamp ferrules, Ra 0.4 µm finish and 3-A / EHEDG compliant designs for CIP and SIP duty.

Applications

Where this family is used

Process and utility monitoring

Steam, hot water and heat-transfer loops measured with matched probe and transmitter assemblies.

Food and beverage pasteurisation

Sanitary probes with fast response for CIP cycles and validation records that need to be traceable.

Plastics and packaging machinery

Non-contact pyrometers for film, preforms and sealing bars where a probe cannot touch the product.

Semiconductor and chamber control

Thin-film RTDs with low mass for fast ramps and tight uniformity across the wafer.

Selection Guide

How to specify correctly

  1. 1

Pick the element before the housing

RTDs give stability and accuracy; thermocouples give speed and range. Most process loops are RTD, most high-temperature and combustion loops are thermocouple.

  2. 2

    Decide where the transmitter lives

Head-mount keeps the analogue run short and the signal digital, which is the better choice on long cable runs and in electrically noisy plants.

  3. 3

Match sheath diameter to response need

A 3 mm sheath responds in about 3 seconds, a 6 mm sheath in about 12. Thin is faster but less robust in flowing media.

  4. 4

    Check immersion depth

Use at least ten sheath diameters of immersion in liquid and more in gas, otherwise the reading is influenced by the pocket wall.

  5. 5

    Confirm the sanitary standard

For food contact, specify the finish (Ra 0.4 µm), the connection (clamp or tri-clamp) and the certificate you need on delivery.

FAQ

Temperature Sensors questions

PT100 or PT1000, which should I choose?

PT100 is the industry default and works with almost every controller. PT1000 has ten times the resistance change per degree, which makes lead resistance less significant in 2-wire wiring and reduces self-heating in low-power loops. If your controller accepts both, PT1000 is the safer choice on long cables.

How accurate is a Class A RTD in real service?

Class A is ±0.15 °C at 0 °C, but the tolerance grows with temperature, reaching roughly ±0.45 °C at 300 °C. If you need tighter performance, specify 1/3 DIN or a matched pair with a calibration certificate.

Can an infrared pyrometer replace a contact probe?

Only where you cannot touch the target or the target moves. Emissivity, sighting angle, spot size and atmospheric interference all affect the reading, so a pyrometer is best used with a known material and a fixed mounting.

Do you supply calibration certificates?

Yes. Every assembly can ship with a 3-point or 5-point certificate traceable to national standards, and we keep the records so a replacement probe can be matched to the original loop.

What lead time applies to sanitary probes?

Standard clamp connections ship in 5-7 working days. Custom immersion lengths and non-standard ferrules take 3 weeks.
