Most sensor problems that reach the control room are interface problems. A 4-20 mA signal picked up 40 mV of noise from a variable frequency drive, or a grounded thermocouple created an earth loop, and the reading is wrong while every component tests fine on the bench. A signal conditioner with galvanic isolation solves both, and it costs less than the downtime it prevents.

The DuoMy range includes isolating conditioners with 1,500 V isolation, multi-channel units for compact panels, loop-powered indicators for local readout without extra wiring, alarm modules with relay outputs, and IO-Link masters that bring parameterised sensors into a PLC over a single network cable.

All units are DIN-rail mounted with removable terminals, are configured by DIP switch or PC software, and carry CE and UL approval. For panels that also need hazardous-area separation, the same housing accepts intrinsic safety barriers.

Range Overview

Signal Controllers variants

Each variant exists because a different application needs it. The distinction is usually mechanical or environmental rather than a better accuracy figure.

Isolating Signal Conditioners

1,500 V

Galvanic isolation and conversion between 4-20 mA, 0-10 V, RTD and thermocouple inputs, with 1,500 V isolation.

Multi-Channel Conditioners

4 / 8 ch

Four or eight channels in one housing for compact panels, with per-channel configuration and diagnostics.

Loop-Powered Indicators

2-wire

Two-wire displays that take their power from the current loop and show the value at the machine without extra cabling.

IO-Link Masters

8 ports

Field and cabinet masters that connect up to eight IO-Link sensors to PROFINET, EtherNet/IP or Modbus TCP.

Alarm & Trip Amplifiers

2 relays

Limit monitoring with relay or solid-state outputs for interlock, over-temperature and dry-run protection.

Applications

Where this family is used

Drive noise and earth loops

Isolation breaks the earth loop and rejects common-mode noise from VFDs and welding equipment.

Mixed-signal panels

One universal module accepts mA, V, RTD and thermocouple, which simplifies spares and reduces panel variants.

Digital sensor integration

IO-Link masters bring parameter data and diagnostics from smart sensors into the PLC without extra analogue cards.

Local readout and alarms

Loop-powered indicators and trip amplifiers give operators a value and an interlock without a separate display panel.

Selection Guide

How to specify correctly

  1. 1

Isolate wherever the loop is long

Any signal leaving the panel or crossing between buildings should be isolated. It is the cheapest reliability improvement in most retrofits.

  2. 2

    Count channels before choosing housing

A multi-channel unit saves rail space and wiring, but a failed channel takes four with it. Single-channel modules are easier to swap.

  3. 3

    Check the loop budget

A loop-powered indicator drops voltage. Verify the total burden against the transmitter's minimum supply before specifying.

  4. 4

    Plan the protocol for IO-Link

The master defines the fieldbus, not the sensor. Choose PROFINET, EtherNet/IP or Modbus TCP based on the PLC you already have.

  5. 5

    Decide the configuration route

DIP switches are field-serviceable without software; PC configuration allows scaling and linearisation. Many panels need both.

FAQ

Signal Controllers questions

Do I need a signal conditioner if my PLC input is already 4-20 mA?

Only if you have noise, an earth loop or a long cable run. In a clean panel a direct connection is fine. Where a VFD is nearby, or the sensor is outdoors or in another building, an isolating conditioner pays for itself the first time an intermittent fault is avoided.

What does galvanic isolation actually protect?

It breaks the conductive path between input, output and supply, so a difference in earth potential cannot drive current through the signal cable. That removes earth-loop error and stops a fault on one side from damaging equipment on the other.

Can one module handle both RTD and 4-20 mA?

Universal-input models can, and the input type is set by DIP switch or software. The trade-off is a slightly longer configuration step and a marginally higher cost than a dedicated module.

What is the advantage of IO-Link over analogue?

Digital transmission is immune to the cable resistance and noise that affect analogue signals, and the sensor can send parameters, identification and diagnostics over the same wire. You also get remote parameterisation, which matters when sensors are inside a machine guard.

Are the modules suitable for hazardous areas?

The standard modules are for safe-area panels. For Zone 1 and Zone 2 you need an Ex nA or an intrinsically safe barrier version; we supply both in the same DIN-rail footprint.
