A disproportionate share of sensor failures are connection failures. Water enters a gland that was not tightened to torque, a cable jacket hardens in coolant and cracks at the bend radius, or a moulded connector loses continuity after a few hundred mating cycles. None of this appears on a sensor datasheet, which is why we supply the connection hardware as part of the sensing system.

The range covers overmoulded and field-attachable M8 and M12 connectors in 3, 4, 5 and 8-pin configurations, shielded and unshielded cable in PUR, PVC and silicone, junction boxes with 4 to 12 ports, and custom assemblies built to length with your labelling and pin-out.

For washdown areas we supply IP69K stainless junction boxes; for welding cells, cables with a spatter-resistant jacket; for drag-chain duty, cables tested to 5 million cycles. Every assembly is continuity and insulation tested before packing, and custom builds ship with a wiring drawing.

Range Overview

Cables & Connectors variants

Each variant exists because a different application needs it. The distinction is usually mechanical or environmental rather than a better accuracy figure.

M8 & M12 Sensor Cables

IP67 / IP69K

Overmoulded cordsets in 3, 4, 5 and 8-pin, straight and angled, in lengths from 0.3 m to 25 m.

Field-Attachable Connectors

On-site

Screw-terminal and IDC plugs for on-site assembly, with no special tools and reusable housings.

Junction Boxes

4-12 ports

4, 6, 8 and 12-port passive boxes with LED indication, in PBT or stainless housings.

Drag-Chain & Robot Cables

5M cycles

High-flex PUR cables tested to 5 million cycles for continuously moving axes and cable carriers.

Applications

Where this family is used

Washdown and hygienic areas

IP69K stainless junction boxes and silicone cables for daily high-pressure cleaning in food plants.

Welding cells

Spatter-resistant jackets and shielded conductors keep signals stable next to welding current.

Machine tools and coolant

PUR jackets resist oil, coolant and repeated flexing at the cable carrier.

Outdoor and buried installation

UV-stable jackets and IP68 connectors for water treatment and irrigation sites.

Selection Guide

How to specify correctly

  1. 1

Match the jacket to the fluid

PVC is fine for dry indoor panels. Coolant, oil and washdown chemicals need PUR; high temperature needs silicone or PTFE.

  2. 2

Do not ignore the bend radius

A standard cable in a drag chain fails at the conductor, not the jacket. Specify a drag-chain rated cable and respect its minimum radius.

  3. 3

    Shield the noisy runs

Any cable running parallel to a drive output should be shielded and the shield bonded at one end. It is cheaper than filtering later.

  4. 4

    Count pins for future needs

A 5-pin cordset costs marginally more than a 4-pin and allows an IO-Link upgrade without re-cabling the machine.

  5. 5

    Buy assemblies, not parts

An overmoulded cordset removes the field assembly step and the most common cause of water ingress. Field-attachable plugs are for repair, not for production builds.

FAQ

Cables & Connectors questions

What does the coding on an M12 connector mean?

The coding prevents mismating. A-coded carries power and discrete signals, D-coded carries 100 Mbit Ethernet, X-coded carries 1 Gbit Ethernet. An A-coded plug will not fit a D-coded socket, which is deliberate.

How often should sensor cables be replaced?

In a static installation, only on failure. In a drag chain, follow the manufacturer's cycle rating rather than the calendar, and replace at about 80% of the rated cycles. A cable that has lost its jacket flexibility is close to failing at the conductor.

Can I make my own cordsets on site?

Yes, with field-attachable connectors. They are reliable if the gland is tightened to the specified torque and the cable diameter matches the seal insert. For production machines, an overmoulded cordset is more consistent.

Do you supply cables with a specific pin-out?

Yes. Custom pin-outs, cable lengths, labelling and connector combinations are available from 50 pieces, with a wiring drawing supplied for approval before production.

Are your junction boxes suitable for hazardous areas?

The standard PBT and stainless boxes are for safe areas. For Zone 1 and Zone 2 we supply certified enclosures with the appropriate terminal blocks and cable glands.
