Overview
The DM-MA25 converts rotary motor motion into precise linear travel through a preloaded ball screw and a crossed-roller guide. The preload removes the axial play that makes a cheap screw drive lose position when the load direction reverses, which is the difference between a 1 µm resolution specification and a 1 µm resolution that holds.
The stepper motor with an integrated 1,000 line encoder gives closed-loop position control, so a missed step is corrected rather than accumulated. Limit switches at both ends protect the mechanism during homing, and the whole assembly is 25 mm wide, which fits inside a gripper body.
Key features
- 25 mm stroke, 80 N continuous force, 200 N peak
- 1 µm resolution with closed-loop encoder feedback
- Preloaded ball screw and crossed-roller guide, no backlash
- Integrated end-of-travel limit switches
- Step/direction, 0-10 V or RS485 control interface
- Anodised aluminium body, 25 mm wide, 420 g
Typical applications
- Gripper jaw adjustment for product changeover
- Fixture and stop positioning
- Probe and sensor fine positioning
- Dosing syringe and valve actuation
Application note
Resolution is not accuracy. Mount the actuator on a flat, stiff surface; a flexing bracket will show up as position error at the tool. If the application needs sub-micron holding, add a piezo fine stage rather than asking a screw drive to do both jobs.
