Overview
The DM-PC18 detects what an inductive sensor cannot: plastic containers, glass bottles, cardboard, wood and bulk material. The sensing field is capacitive, so any material with a dielectric constant above about 1.5 will trigger it, and the sensitivity potentiometer or IO-Link parameter sets the threshold for the specific product.
The IO-Link version matters on lines with frequent product changes. Instead of an operator adjusting a potentiometer behind a guard, the switching threshold and the output logic are stored in the recipe and downloaded over IO-Link when the product changes.
Key features
- 8 mm adjustable sensing distance, non-flush mountable
- Detects plastics, glass, wood, paper and liquids
- IO-Link 1.1 parameterisation plus PNP switching output
- Sensitivity adjustment by potentiometer or IO-Link
- IP67 PBT housing with M12 connector
- Switching frequency 100 Hz, suited to presence detection
Typical applications
- Bottle, cap and label presence on filling lines
- Level detection through a plastic tank wall
- Cardboard and wood board detection in packaging
- Product changeover with recipe-based thresholds
Application note
Capacitive sensors are affected by humidity and by product residue on the face. Mount them where the face stays clear, and use IO-Link diagnostics to detect a threshold that is drifting before it causes a missed detection.
