DM-PM08 Weld-Immune M8 Proximity Sensor, PTFE Face

Overview

The DM-PM08 is built for two conditions that destroy ordinary proximity sensors: weld spatter and welding current. The sensing face is PTFE, so spatter does not adhere and the face does not pit, and the oscillator circuit is designed to ignore the magnetic field generated by several thousand amps of welding current passing a few centimetres away.

At 15 g and 30 mm long, it fits into gripper jaws and clamp bodies where an M12 sensor would not go. The 2 mm sensing distance is enough for a typical clamp position with a machined target and a repeatable mechanical stop.

Installation note

Mount at least one sensing distance from the weld current path, route the cable away from the welding leads, and use a bracket that shields the face from direct spatter. The sensor resists spatter, but a bracket that keeps it out of the stream lasts longer.
