The DM-SD24 takes its power from the current loop it is measuring, so installing it means breaking the loop and inserting the indicator, nothing more. It displays the scaled value in engineering units and provides two relays that can be set as high, low or window alarms with adjustable hysteresis and delay.
That combination replaces a separate display and trip amplifier in many panels. It is particularly useful on remote or skid-mounted equipment where an operator needs to see the value and where a local alarm must act even if the control system is offline.
A two-wire indicator adds to the loop resistance. Check that the transmitter’s minimum supply voltage plus the indicator’s voltage drop plus the cable and sense resistor still falls below the available supply, especially on 12 V loops.
